Domaine Zind Humbrecht

Domaine Zind-Humbrecht has been making wine steadily since 1620 and is one of Alsace's most famous wineries. The winery has now passed on to the second generation, Olivier Humbrecht, the first French MW. Zind-Humbrecht significantly influenced the style of Alsatian wines by choosing low acreage yields, producing wines with concentrated & fruity character & applying the principles of biodynamic cultivation, which even plays a role in the classification of ZH wines. (Indice 1 - 5), indirectly indicating the level of residual sugar which may differ between harvests, thus following variants belonging to the biodynamic philosophy. The sweetness index (Indice 1 - 5) introduced by Humbrecht to guide the consumer about his wines is based on the overall impression left by the wine & refers to its label, right next to the alcohol title.
