Quite aromatic on the nose with a strong element of jam. Red berries and subtle green notes give a pleasant herbal character. Leather smoked ham, which softens during the stay in the glass. Quite floral. Very interesting pallet with elements of blackcurrant, blackberry, and violet. Again, that hint of green/herbal character. Moderate tannins. Long aftertaste, herbal with a hint of berries.
Merlot seems to be acclimatizing very well to the new conditions with the hot summers due to climate change. Selected fruit, fermentation in closed Roto fermenters for better fruit extraction for 2 weeks, aging for 16 months in new and used barrels, partly (25%) American oak for more complexity.
