In 2014, The Smuggler's Boot wines were first released. The name origins from the period of trade blockades in South Africa, when farmers & vintners were smuggling vine rootstock into the country by smuggling rootstock into the country by hiding the plants in Wellington boots. The Smuggler's Boot Series celebrates this ingenuity.
Pale violet to orange-red color. Delicate aromas of strawberry, brioche, and raspberry jelly. Charming, with a soft and juicy texture, delicate acidity, and a lingering aftertaste. Light on the palate with depth and purity of flavor. The tannins are soft and the flavors unfold with characteristic strawberry jam, blackberries, and spice due to the oak. A well-balanced wine.
