In 2014, The Smuggler's Boot wines were first released. The name origins from the period of trade blockades in South Africa, when farmers & vintners were smuggling vine rootstock into the country by smuggling rootstock into the country by hiding the plants in Wellington boots. The Smuggler's Boot Series celebrates this ingenuity.
Light lemon color. Subtle aromas of apple, pear, and melon. A touch of herbs, white flowers, and vanilla adds charm to a gently aromatic nose. The palate has a lovely depth with yellow apples, ripe pear pulp, and sweet yellow peach. Crisp acidity adds intensity along with minerality, as notes of sherbet and chalk add structure and vibrancy throughout. Dry, concentrated on the palate, with juicy fruit, soft spices, and a long and persistent finish. A mild sense of minerality as it has matured in ceramic tanks.
